Need a Lift? - Jesus Reach |
| |
Jesus Christ offers you a way UP and out of life’s difficult circumstances. He offers you hope that
will last for the rest of your life and beyond. His hand is extended to you today. When Jesus died
on the cross, he took upon himself all the sins of the entire world for all time. God demonstrated
in a dramatic way how much he loves us — his prize creation — when he sent his only son to die in
our place. Does this sound confusing? Please, read on and I’ll try to explain.
The Bible states: |
"For God so loved the world that he
gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16
|
| There’s another verse that says: |
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of
God is eternal life,
through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 6:23
|
These verses tell us that we are all sentenced to eternal death because of sin. But, our loving
God put a plan in place that would offer a "way out" for anyone who, first, believes in Him AND…
Second, accepts his gift of salvation through his son — Jesus Christ.
The challenge for some is realizing that we are all sinners. Some people don’t want to accept that
fact but it’s still true. Because sin entered the world way back in the Garden of Eden — through
Adam and Eve, every person on the planet inherited the consequences of their disobedience.
This initial SIN caused a breach in the relationship between God and mankind. But, God
continued to reach out to his prize creation. Think about it. He made us in HIS image and his
deep love for us found a way to rescue us from destruction.
That’s why he sent Jesus Christ to the cross. He paid the penalty for our sins. All we have to do
is believe in him and accept the gift of salvation. It sounds simple doesn’t it? Actually it is rather
simple. But, simple doesn’t mean "easy." We are still human and with that human nature comes
a desire to please our flesh. We struggle with temptations to be greedy, selfish and rebellious.
I won’t sugar coat it - living a life of Faith in God takes a great deal of commitment and
perseverance.
Just think about it. Jesus Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice with his life, and he requires us to lay
ourselves down so that we can walk with him — his way. Are you ready to lay down your own plans
and accept God’s plan for your life? This is a very important decision. We all must stand before
God one day and answer the question, "What did you do with my son, Jesus Christ?"
There are two answers to that question. Only two.
- God, I accepted your son, Jesus Christ, and your gift of salvation and have spent my life
learning to walk and talk the way Jesus did when he was on this earth.
- God, I chose not to accept your son, Jesus Christ, and instead wanted to live my life my
own way.
There is no in-between. There are no excuses. Either you say "Yes" to God’s gift or "No." When
you say "Yes" you are accepting his gift of salvation and the promise of Heaven. When you say
"No" or leave the question unanswered, you will unfortunately suffer the consequences of sin as
stated in the Romans verse — DEATH. Eternal death or eternal life — that is your choice today.
If you have never made the choice to receive the gift of salvation, now would be a perfect time.
God’s arm of invitation is extended right now. All you need to do is pray the following prayer with
a sincere heart.
|
"Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and in need of your help. I accept the gift of salvation that
you offer through your son Jesus Christ today. As of this moment I choose to live my life according
to your plan for me and give up my own. I can see that the way of this world only leads to eternal
death, but your way — through the cross of Jesus Christ — leads me to life forever with you. That’s
what I choose — life with you. So, take my life and make me all yours. In Jesus name, amen."
|
If you just prayed this prayer today and have chosen to begin your walk with Christ, let me be the
first to say, "Welcome to the family of God!"
Please take a moment to send me an email right now and let me know of this very important and
life-changing decision. I would like to send you some materials so that you can learn more about
your new life with Christ. This is just the beginning of an adventure of faith. The
love of God has lifted you up — out of the old you and into the new you. It’s a thrilling adventure
with a great promise — filled with love, hope, joy and eternal life with God!
